flip slowly and see...
2026

flip slowly and see is a zine-inspired book investigating the circumstances under which the velvet underground & nico album originated, along with the album’s influence on noise and punk rock. this book explores the cultural, geographic, and economic contexts of the mid–late 1960’s which shaped alternative subcultures, highlighting the founding members backgrounds and how their unique approaches to music and lyricism cultivated their distinct sound.
this book was created using physical experimentation methods. by altering and re-assembling letterforms, employing D.I.Y. design and publishing practices, and leaning into the textured nature affiliated with alternative publications of the late sixties, the visual language of flip slowly and see reminisces on the original punk ethos of which the velvet underground contributed to.
